To ensure your Ravenshell hard case backpack remains in excellent condition and is ready for your next adventure, follow these care and maintenance tips:


1. Cleaning Your Ravenshell hard case backpack :

• Exterior: Use a soft, damp cloth with mild soap to wipe down the exterior. Avoid abrasive cleaners, as they can scratch the surface.
• Interior: Wipe down the interior compartments with a damp cloth and allow it to air dry completely.

• Use a Protective Cover: If you check your backpack into the hold of an airplane, consider using a protective cover to prevent scratches.
  
  

3. Storing Your Ravenshell hard case backpack

• Storage Environment: Store your Ravenshell hard case backpack in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, which can cause discoloration or weaken the material.
• Avoid Overpacking: Avoid overloading the Ravenshell hard case backpack, which can put stress on zippers and seams.

4. Traveling Tips

• Labeling: Use a luggage tag instead of sticking anything directly on the polycarbonate, as adhesives can leave residue.
  
  

Our Ravenshell hardshell backpacks come with a TSA approved luggage lock: the TSA and other border security forces will have a universal key to open the lock to check the contents of your backpack and then relock it. To set the code for the first time (or change the code)

1. Open the lock with the Default Code, 0-0-0.

2. Locate Reset Mechanism: Find a small reset button, near the dials.

3. Enter Reset Mode: Press or hold the reset mechanism.

4. Set New Code: Rotate the dials to your desired combination.

5. Lock in the Code: Release the reset button or return the lever to its original position.

6. Test the Code: Ensure it works by scrambling and re-entering.

The hard shell of our Ravenshell backpack is made from Polycarbonate not ABS (which looks similar but does not perform in the same way). In general:

• Durability: Polycarbonate is much more impact-resistant than ABS. It can handle more rough handling without cracking, making it ideal for frequent travelers or those worried about protecting their gear.
• Flexibility: Polycarbonate is more flexible than ABS, allowing it to absorb impact better and return to its original shape. This flexibility helps reduce damage during travel.
• Lightweight: Polycarbonate backpacks are typically lighter than those made of ABS. Given hand luggage is typically 7 kg, it is hard to get the trade off between strong and durable vs light and flimsy. In our view, Polycarbonate offers the best outcome.
• Scratch Resistance: Polycarbonate has a more scratch-resistant surface than ABS, helping it maintain a newer look for longer. It often also comes in a glossy finish that resists visible wear although, over time, scratches cannot be avoided.
• Temperature Resistance: Polycarbonate handles temperature variations better than ABS, meaning it’s less likely to become brittle in colder climates.
• Longevity: Thanks to the strength, flexibility, and scratch resistance of polycarbonate, backpacks made with this material generally last longer than ABS options.

In summary: While backpacks with a polycarbonate shell tend to be more expensive than those made with ABS, they offer superior durability, flexibility, and a lightweight design, making them a better long-term investment for frequent travelers.
